Who Are You Really?
“Who Are You Really?” is a serious game born in Madrid in Game has the objective of gamifying the DISC assessment, which is a psychological assessment that analyzes the personality of the subject by some simple questions. As this process is quite tedious, we decided to gamify it into a narrative point-and-click videogame, the game analyzes the decisions of the players to make a psychological profile of the user following the DISC assessment criteria.
The game places the player in a remote town called Fuenteventura, this town has a corrupted major that wants to destroy some ancient Roman ruins in order to build a luxury hotel, the player has to prove that he has evidences of the Roman ruins and that he is trying to benefit from the hotel.
The game was developed by two programmers, two designers, one artist, and Belén Gomez Sanz who is a renown serious game developer who has written “Gamificación y los juegos serios: Curso practico” and has worked in many other serious games.
My Role in the Project
To develop the game I was a designer and a writer, so I was in charge of:
Understanding the DISC assessment and creating ways to gamify it
Adapt the DISC assessment into a narrative format where the decisions of the player could be analyzed and create a psychological profile.
Keep improving the game, changing the narrative and the possible decisions the player can make to enhance the precision of the gamified assessment
Playtest and compare the results they have with the gamified assessment and the original one.
This project was perfect for seeing how game design adapts to a serious game like this, especially how to gamify a psychological assessment while keeping its precision. This helped me to learn the variety of ways that game design can be used as well as gamification in orders fills that are not only typical videogames.
